Auto Driver Gruesomely Murdered by Longtime Rival

Mangalore, Dec 16: In a gruesome act, a person was crushed to death by ramming a boulder on his head at Neetinagar near Shaktinagar here on Thursday December 16.
The deceased has been identified as Ronald Paul (53), an auto rickshaw driver, who was forced to his end by Sunil, his longtime rival who is absconding. It is learnt that Paul was known to have had differences with many due to a fight taken up for the land of the poor.
On the other hand, he was also known to make enemies by offending people.
According to his friend who is also an eyewitness, he and Ronald were standing near a shop engaged in conversation, when the accused attacked him.
His body has been kept at the district Wenlock Hospital mortuary. Sub-inspector Prakash and his team inspected the spot.
Ronald Paul is survived by his wife and a one-year-old daughter.
Beltangady: Retired Teacher-turned-financier Done to Death

Beltangady, Dec 16: Even as the news of the gruesome murder of auto driver Ronald Paul shocked Mangalore on Thursday December 16, another murder came to light, this time a retired teacher-turned-financier Perady Kotyappa Poojary (68), who was murdered in Naravi, here on Thursday. He is survived by his two wives and six children.
Perady who arrived here from Bangalore by bus on Thursday morning, was murdered with an iron rod. Prior to this, he had also been hit by a jeep. The vehicle belonging to Vasanth Poojary, who is said to be a rival of Perady, was found at the spot.
The motive behind the murder is believed to be some financial matter over which the two had a fight. Vasanth and his accomplices left their jeep after it plunged into a gutter and absconded.
Venur police registered a case after Nalini, wife of Perady, complained against Vasanth. Senior police officers rushed to the spot.
Police said that Perady was alive for a while despite sustaining severe injuries.
Perady was allegedly threatened 10 days ago near Padegudde in Nellikaru, and over the past two days people in the vicinity of Naravi had been gossiping about his possible murder. A murder attempt had been made on Perady 20 years ago. Sources claim that a local informant had informed the murderers about the time and place where Perady was expected to arrive.
Perady had retired from service many years ago. He had worked as a teacher in Naravi, Andinje, Aladangady, Nellikaru, and other schools. He was running an educational institution in Hosmaru and was the president of the Naravi Consumer Court. He had also contested panchayat elections, but did not win.
