Mangalore, Dec 17: Angered by the brutal murder of a three-year-old girl in the name of black magic by a couple near Yeyyadi here on Friday December 17, a mob of around 300 people attacked and vandalised the Kadri police station on the same day at around 7.30 pm.
The mob demanded the police to hand over the accused, Kamalaksha and Chandrakala, and to let them punish the couple in their own way. However, the police refused saying that it is a matter for the police and that the couple have been only accused so far. They also said that investigations are on in the matter.
Enraged by the refusal, the mob began pelting stones and launched an attack on the police station, breaking window panes and damaging property.
Unable to control the furious crowd, the police resorted to lathi-charge, following which the mob dispersed.
Around 15 bikes on which some of the people arrived at the police station were seized by the police but their owners fled the place.
No arrests have been made so far.
Also, to prevent further disturbances, tight police security has been deployed at the house of the accused which had been attacked earlier in the day.
