Battle for UP: Now, RLD seeks ban on opinion polls

Lucknow, Jan 25 (IANS): After its ally Samajwadi Party, it is the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) which has now asked the Election Commission to impose a ban on opinion polls that are making an attempt to influence voters.

RLD national Secretary Anil Dubey met the state Chief Electoral Officer on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

Last week, the Samajwadi Party had also approached the Election Commission seeking a ban on opinion polls.

Later talking to reporters, the RLD leader said that the process of nominations had begun but news channels continue to present opinion polls that is damaging the impartiality of the election process.

He said that opinion polls were biased and served only the interests of one particular party.
