Margaret Alva Confers Rachana Awards on Extraordinary Achievers

Mangalore, Dec 19: Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva said that women should be given priority in order to avert leadership crisis in the society and in the country at large.
She was speaking at the prestigious Rachana Awards presentation ceremony held at the Milagres Hall here on Sunday December 19.
She further said that Rachana foundation has mobilized the community by honouring people who have done extraordinary work in their respective fields. She expressed her happiness in getting an opportunity to spend time in her native place and said that she enjoyed its food, especially the fish delicacies.
Earlier, achievers Richard Rebello (agriculturist of the year), Vincent C Kolnad (entrepreneur of the year), Pascal Alan Nazareth (professional of the year), Ivan Fernandes (NRI entrepreneur of the year) and Flavia Agnes (outstanding woman of the year) were honoured with the Rachana Awards.
All the award winners gratefully acknowledged the honour bestowed on them and thanked Rachana committee and the people for their encouragement.
Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza in his address congratulated the awardees and said that Rachana Foundation by itstremendous encouragement to the Catholic community is inspiring young people to emerge as leaders in their respective professions.
Karnataka High Court judge Justice B V Pinto who inaugurated the Rachana Senior Citizens Welfare Trust congratulated all the awardees. Past president and convenor Marcel Monteiro was present.
President of Rachana (Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry) J S Noronha welcomed the gathering. Peter Pinto, secretary, delivered the vote of thanks. Trishma Pinto and Titus Noronha compered the programme.
