Prem Kumar Concert Pays Rich Tributes to Konkann Kogull Wilfy Rebimbus

Mangalore, Dec 19: ‘Premal Saanz’ Konkani music concert by veteran singer Prem Kumar was staged at Milagres parish grounds here on Sunday December 19 as a tribute to Konkann Kogull Wilfy Rebimbus, his mentor of over four decades, on the occasion of the tri-centenary celebrations of Our Lady of Miracles parish, Milagres, here.
The first song, ‘Shraddhanjali,' was sung by Prem, Claude D’Souza, and Ivan Sequeira. Prem garlanded a portrait of the late Wilfy Rebimbus.
Speaking on the occasion, Prem recalled his long association with the legendary singer which inspired him to stage his first musical concert as a tribute to Wilfy Rebimbus. He said that his family members were the parishioners of Milagres for six decades and he wanted to stage his first musical concert to mark the tri-centenary celebrations of his ancestral parish.
Mangalore diocese vicar general Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu released Prem’s first CD ‘Premal Ulo’ during the programme.
Prem’s brother Connel Lobo and his wife Anita, Prem’s wife Lynet, Milagres parish priest Fr Walter D’Mello and Mumbai musician Nakash were present on the dais.
Numbers like ‘Tuji Jini,' ‘Fula Abdulla,' ‘Matintgo Chintna,' ‘Soro Jai,' ‘Arundati,' ‘Tum Mola Dakaitai,' ‘Ami Burgi Bharat Matechi,' ‘2012,' ‘Chedwa Matari Jainant,' ‘Tarnyatyano Uta,' ‘Ek Nachpachi Kata,' ‘Tujem Rupnem Moga,' ‘Ye Mogora’ and ‘Santos Bogta,' were sung by singers Claude, Hubert, Noushad, Ivan, Prakash, Zina, Ralph, Munita, Rony, Asha, Oshin, Samanta, Alisha, Alita, Wimelda, Anston, Elton, Fr Roshan D’Mello, Avina, Noreen, Nelli, Roshni, and Melvyn.
Joswin, Mervyn, Veneet, Gangadas, Umesh and Soman were the musicians.
The comedy troupe ‘Me Mo Ry’ staged mimicry and entertained the audience with some delightful jokes that added a touch of humour to the evening.
John Monteiro introduced Prem to the gathering and Leslie Rego compered the programme.
