Dubai: Dhwani Prathishthana's Silver Jubilee Ends with Kavi Goshthi

Dubai, Dec 20: As part of their ongoing silver jubilee celebrations, Dhwani Prathishthana, UAE organized Kannada Kavi Goshti, poets' meet and Bhavageete, theme song singing programme at Jacky's Restaurant, Quasais, Dubai.

S Madhusudan, secretary, welcomed the gathering. Explaining the importance of the programme like this, he said this will go a long way in rekindling the love for our own language and how Dhwani Prathishthana is striving to achieve better patronage for Kannada from residents of UAE.

The programme started with a classical welcome prayer by Sonia Gautam. The theme of the kavigoshti was 'Hacchevu Kannadada Deepa' meaning we will light Kannada lamps everywhere, wherever we go” The fitting theme for the poets with a taste for their beautiful language. The participating poets were welcomed with the lighted lamps as to mark the celebration of lighting of Kannada lamps.

The poets' meet was presided by poet and playwright Prakash Rao Payyar (Karnataka Nataka Acedemy Awardee - 2009-10) and the participating poets were Gopinath Rao, Irshad Moodbidri, Arshad Hussain, Robert Udyavara, James Pius D’souza and Ramprasad. Each of the poets presented their poems in their own unique style with explanations whenever required so that the audience could enjoy the session.

Prakash Payyar summed up the session with a few observations on how we could support the cause of Kannada here in UAE. This was followed by bhavageete programme wherein the singers chose select poems written by well known poets and enthralled the audience.

The singers participated in the programme included Deepa Ragunandan, Sarala Raghunath, Sonia Gautham, Raghnandan and Suma Narayan. B L Narayan, Satish Rao, Friends of India Forum, Raghunandan, Indian Fine Arts Forum, Herman Luis, Gulf Kannadiga Forum, Murgesh Gajare,
Basava Samiti and Ganesh Rai, former president, Karnataka Sangha Sharjah were also present.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by joint secretary Sarala Raghunath.

    Came to know after the celebration of the function. That is the reason I can see such a big crowd in the picture! Anyway congratulations to the organizers. Kannada and kannada culture whoever anywhere in any forms my best wishes for them..jai kannada jai karnataka
