According to a source, Kamalaksha has 40 acres of land spread over several places. Further he also has land in the city areas valued in crores of rupees. It is believed that his motive in sacrificing human life was to mount his property. People of the locality complain that he never mingled with the people, and was involved way too much in all kinds of rituals.
Several residents in Balebailu village, Kadri had earlier complained with former deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj on April 19, 2010 that Kamalaksha had engaged in illegal land acquisition. Kamalaksha and his brother Madhava Purusha with the help of brokers had registered many false petitions stating that their agricultural land was targeted to be acquired illegally by the locals. This was also highlighted by the people in an appeal submitted through the help of Balebailu Saga friends circle. The members of Saga friends circle had also complained with the DC on February 25 and March 30, 2010 that Kamalaksha had not only filed false cases but had also threatened people.
