Enthusiasts' Huge Draw at 92.7 Big FM’s Cycle Rally

Mangalore, Dec 22: Enthusiasm to ride the trendy medium of travel –bicycle –broke the wintry chill in the city on Wednesday December 22 morning when many including elders, youth and officials joined the cycling event named ‘The Avon Big Greenathon’.
Scores of people who had registered with the hosts –the 92.7 Big FM city station –made it to the venue for a few miles of eco-friendly ride along with RJ Avinash and RJ Varsha, Radio Jockeys of the popular radio channel.
Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, Superintendent of Police inaugurated the cycle rally and said that the purpose of organizing it is to inculcate the habit of cycle riding among kids as it is apparent that the habit is vanishing in recent days. Cycling not only keeps you fit but also keeps the environment pollution-free, he added.
Mutalib, proprietor of Taj cycles, one of the chief guests said that ‘Greenathon’ is a big event of its kind being held across the country and expected to engage the citizens of India to one unique pledge to cycle for their good health. He added that inferiority complex about using cycle should be wiped out from our mind.
Raymond D’Souza, international weight lifter and body builder, Bhojaraj Vamanjur, Tulu theatre artiste, Madan Sharma Ludhiana, group sales accounts manager, Sarfraz Ahmed of Big FM among others were present.
As many as 50 participants took part in the rally which commenced from Kadri Park and winded up at Bejai.
The only lady participant in the event Rekha Hegde Kodikal, here emerged as the winner through a lucky draw. She was awarded a cycle worth Rs 10,000.
