Mangalore, Dec 22:
"Jesus Christ was born in a poor family and was an ordinary human being, yet he was the epitome of humility and harmony. Let the Christmas celebration this year inspire the essence of brotherhood and harmony among all of us," said bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza in his Christmas message here on Wednesday December 22.

"Christians who follow in the path of Jesus Christ are always ready for any sacrifice, tolerance and humbleness. By inculating these values Christians have gained pleasant relations with everyone," he added.

"Today there is a sense of ambiguity around us which has led to stressful life. Hence, there is every need for the prevalence of peace and wisdom in the society. Jesus Christ taught us to love oneself as well as others on the same level," he asserted.

    Dear Fredrick,
The simplicity, humility, and humbleness that was clearly visible in your comments, put me to shame.

I think you are a true example of the Bishops christmas message of promoting brotherhood, harmony and peace. Your way of gentlenes are greater than any prayer that I am sure will please God the alimighty.

I hope I too will be able to learn from your humility.

Unlike any other baby, the one born that night in Bethlehem was unique in all of history. He was not created by a human father and mother. He had a heavenly pre-existence (John 1:1-3, 14). He is God, the Son—Creator of the universe (Philippians 2:5-11). This is why Christmas is called the incarnation, a word which means “in the flesh.” In the birth of Jesus, the eternal, all-powerful and all-knowing Creator came to earth in the flesh.
Why would God do such a thing? Why would he come as a baby, instead of appearing in power and majesty? Why make himself a true man and live among us, when he knew full well how terribly he would be treated?
The true God’s Love is understanding others needs, helping, sharing, and praying for one another and we all must do it not only at Christmas but every day. Merry Christmas to all.

JESUS is neither a poor man nor a ordinary man. It was revealed by Holy Spirit that a KING will be born to save all mankind. May you see the light the Wise Men saw. Hail the heaven-born Prince of peace! Jesus Redeemer, Light of the world. May the joy of christmas be showered upon each and every one. Glory to God.

Dear Felix, We do need a religion to guide us. If there was no Christian religion, who would have given us the Bible? Now concerning your query on the intercession of saints. Numbers Ch.21 : 7 Moses prays for the people. Job 42 :7-9 Job prays for his friends. Revelation Ch.5:8, Ch.8 :3,4 the saints offer prayers to God. James Ch.5:16 says that the prayers of the righteous has great power. Do we not request people to pray for us when we are in need? If we can request ordinaary persons to pray for us, is it not in order to request a Blessed person to pray for us? Luke Ch.1:41 Elizabeth filled with the Holy Spirit exclaimed in a loud voice You are Blessed among all women. Ch.1:48 Henceforth all generations shall call me Blessed. Dear Felix, personally, I feel bad to disagree with people but at the same time, I feel it is better to share what you feel rather than keep quiet. Please accept my reply in true spirit. Thanks.

    Dear Fredric.
Thank you for your comments. The specific reason that prompted me to write my comments, were beacuse of what you have rightly said, Majority of the Catholics have built their faith, on what has been taught and practiced by everyone and not based on the actual teachings of Jesus Christ.

That is why We catholics do not have a strong faith to pray, only to the one God, as Jesus instructed, but to saints, Mary, Jesus, etc based on what is being taught and practised by others.

That is why I said, to have a strong and correct faith, read the Bible and understand the message of Jesus instead of building the faith as practised by others. If you read the Bible, I sure you will understand what I mean, not otherwise.

Religion plays an important role in this fast changing and fast moving world. It is most appropriate and valuable for the Religious leaders to voice their message during the time of Xmas and Easter so that people of all faiths relish the message with a deep sense admiration for the festive season prevailing at the moment regardless who they are and which denomination of faith they belong go. His Holiness the Pope delivers His message from Vatican during the time of Xmas as well as Easter so that his message of goodwill reaches the conscience oc the world that seeks peace, harmony, friendship and goodwill regardless of our faith and race. This is the time to rise to the occasion and voice your message that will reach out every corner of the world so that the world realizes the importance of the love, respect and reverence towards all religions and backgrounds in order to make this world a better place to live.

Xmas and New Year is the best time to render our close attention to the message comes from our Bishop, our Cardinal or our Pope so that we can also share this message with our friends and neighbours and make them part of our happiness and inner peace.

Thank you, Bishop Aloysius for your noble message. May God give you continued good health and happiness always. As we observe your photograph with the rest of the priests we are also observing with pride the large picture painting on the wall that we gave you few years ago. Merry Xmas and God bless.

Dear Felix, I beg to differ with you on religion. Faith can be a personal relation between self and God. Religion is a collective faith of people with God. That is why every individual who professes a particular religion has a responsibility to ensure that he/she lives by what has been taught and practiced by everyone. Hinduism is the only relgion where one can say that his faith is personal and he/she is not accountable to anyone. They are free to chart out their own destiny towards their salvation. I am liable for correction, if I am wrong on the above matter. Thanks.

Religion is a personal relation between self and God, and the extent or otherwise the fruitfulness of this relation is known only to God, not even to self.

The religious heads and followers should stop advertising how good and peaceful their religion is, instead, show by example in thoughts- and deeds our careing towards our neighbour.

Jesus Christ taught us to love GOD, and the way to love God was to love others, the as loving ourselves. To love oneself as well as others on the same level, as an indipendent act, without relating it to God, does not make any sense.

The best Christmas message to Christians would have been "Read the Bible and Understand the true message of Jesus and live accordinly."

At Christmas as a sybmbol of love, peace and unity could the bishop throw a Christmas party and mix up with Hndus,Muslims,Sikhs, Jains, Jews, Buddhist and Parsis if there are a few arround. These could be people from ordinary walk of life. That will show that the bishop is for divorcity and walks the talk especially at Chirstmas.
