Bengaluru, Feb 5: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chief DK Shivakumar feigned ignorance on senior party leader and MLC CM Ibrahim’s statement on quitting Congress party and joining JD(S).

``I am busy with strengthening party organisation. I don’t have any details about it (Ibrahim),’’ he said speaking to reporters at the party office on Saturday.

It may be recalled that Shivakumar had recently promised to speak to Ibrahim and convince him to stay on in the party.

The State Congress President also strongly condemned the statements by BJP leaders, including ministers and MLAs on not allowing Muslim girl students not to attend colleges wearing hijab and wanted to know whether the Chief Minister and other ministers had taken oath to act according to the country’s constitution or run the government to suit the ruling party’s political compulsions.

``Let Chie Minister Basavaraj Bommai clarify and make his government’s stand clear,’’ Shivakumar demanded.

The KPCC Chief launched the digital enrolment of party members and also held a meeting of the party’s media control room as also a meeting of the leaders of the Congress party’s Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes wings on strengthening the party organisation.
