Mangalore, Dec 24: Christmas eve in the city resounded with the jingling of bells and carol singing across the parishes here on Friday December 24 evening. The entire city has been decked with sparkling lights and twinkling stars in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ the Saviour.
Christians around the city attended special mass organised in churches with great devotion. Apart from carols, Christmas trees with their vibrant decorations and a variety of cribs marked the celebrations.
Christmas Mass was held in the evening in various churches of the city. At Rosario Cathedral the Mass began at 10 pm. The mass in all the churches was preceded by carol singing.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza concelebrated the grand mass. In his address he said that Jesus Christ was the creation of god, and to be one among us he incarnated as a common poor human being. Through this he taught us the essence of love, peace and harmony. The bishop also wished everyone a very happy and peaceful new year.
The Christmas Mass at Rosario Cathedral was webcast live on Daijiworld.
