Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 5: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, February 5, reported 252 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 202 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,34,159 out of which 2,177 are currently active.

As many as 505 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,789. Out of which five deaths were reported on Saturday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,14,91,880 as fine in 94,034 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 202 new cases were reported on Saturday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 2,168. A total of 460 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.

Udupi taluk reported 117 cases, Kundapura 50 and 33 cases in Karkala. 2 cases were reported from outside district.

A total of 10,34,998 people have received first dose of vaccination and 8,89,444 have received both doses and 35,324 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
