Bengaluru: C M Ibrahim to resign from council membership on Feb 14, join JD(S)

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Feb 6: MLC and former minister C M Ibrahim who is on the verge of quitting Congress on Saturday February 5 said that he was all set to join the JD (S).

Addressing a press conference in the city, Ibrahim said that he will resign from the membership of Legislative Council on February 14.

He also said that he plans to launch 'ALINGO' (Alpasankhyata, Lingayat, and Gowda communities) movement to counter former chief minister Siddaramaiah's AHINDA (Alpasankhyata, Hindulidavaru, and Dalit). "This will teach fitting lesson to the state Congress," he said.

Though he is most likely join the JD(S), Ibrahim said that he was contemplating joining Samajwadi Party or Trinamool Congress as well.

"I have decided to join JD(S) but the date is not finalized. I have already held meetings of leaders in Bengaluru and Mysuru. I will also hold a meeting at Hubballi. Samajwadi Party has also invited me. But when I held discussions with leaders, many showed inclination towards JD(S)," he said.

Ibrahim said that he had decided to quit the Congress as he felt sidelined by the party, especially after he was denied the post of leader of opposition in the Legislative Council.

"The Congress has been denying proper representation to Muslim leaders in the party and positions in the government knowing well that Muslims will never vote for the BJP," he alleged.

Meanwhile, KPCC working president Saleem Ahmed accused Ibrahim of demanding to remove S R Patil from the position of opposition party leader in Legislative Council and give him Patil’s place.

Speaking to the reporters, Saleem said, "Ibrahim demanded the state Congress incharge Surjewala to remove S R Patil from the post of leader of opposition in Legislative Council and give him that position instead. But Surjewala did not agree. That is why he is leaving the party."

Congress must think that “C M Ibrahim is always supporting Congress. But he was stabbing back to Congress.” C M Ibrahim remembers this “Don’t fear the enemy that attacks you, but the fake friend that hugs you.”
