Bantwal, Feb 8: “There is no doubt that a political conspiracy is behind the Hijab row which should have been resolved locally and is being made to spread in the state like wild fire,” said District Imam Okkoota president S B Darimi.
Speaking to media persons at Mithabail premises, B C Road on Tuesday, February 8, he said that it was unfortunate that the Hijab controversy was created. “It should be resolved by the government, education department and parents together through deliberations,” he opined.
“Discussions over the Hijab are being held at an international level and the country's prestige is at stake. Muslims all over the world wear Hijab. It is covering the head and is our religious and Constitutional right. The uniform system is not affected by covering the head with a scarf. Hijab is being used in Hindu and Sikh religions also in their own ways,” he said.
“Nobody should be allowed to create a divide between the Hindus and Muslims in the name of Hijab. The country has a future only when Hindus and Muslims live in harmony. Therefore, the Hindu seers should intervene in solving the issue,” he appealed.
Jamyathul Ulema, Puttur taluk secretary Abdul Hamid Darimi, SKSSF state president Anis Kausari, district Darimi Okkoota president Habib Rehman Tanjal, SKSSF district chief secretary Ismael Yamani, vice president Siddik Bantwal and others were present.
