Udupi: MLA Bhat, Yashpal Suvarna aiding Hijab vs Saffron row – CFI

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, Feb 9: “The minister of education is trying to cover the misdeeds of the Sangh Parivar and ABVP,” the Campus Front of India (CFI) has alleged.

“The Hijab controversy that began in a pre-university college in Udupi could have been resolved locally but they have spread it to other districts in the state with the encouragement of local MLA. The leader of ABVP and Sangh Parivar is behind creating these disturbances in the state at a time when High Court hearing on Hijab is in progress since February 8,” stated Campus Front of India state president Athaulla Punjalkatte.

"It is clear that the Sangh Parivar had hoisted the Bhagava Dhwaja (saffron flag) on the flag post meant to hoist national flag, incited the students, provided Saffron shawls provoking them to raise 'Jai Sriram' slogans, destroyed public property, attack a lonely female student on her way to Mandya college, force a student to wear Saffron and stab a college student. However no case has been registered so far against the miscreants who hoisted Bhagava Dhwaja. The silence of the chief minister despite the untoward incidents is ironic,” he said.

“The unfounded allegations against Campus Front of India by the minister of primary and secondary school education Nagesh are condemnable. Campus Front is making it clear that it is always standing ahead and fighting legally for the constitutional rights of students,” Punjalkatte said.

'HC verdict in our favour'

Athaulla Punjalkatte expressed hope that the High Court verdict on Hijab controversy in the state will most likely be in their favour as per the Constitution.

“We have faith in the honourable High Court. We hope that the court verdict may be out soon. There should be no hindrances to the education of students in the state. The court should grant permission to wear a scarf till the judgement comes out. Detailed hearing is likely to be held in the court," he said.

Raghupathi Bhat, Yashpal Suvarna and other Sangh Parivar leaders should tell the general public that who supplied hundreds of safron petas and shawls from Surat? Who are the leaders ordered them from Surat? Where is the Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and his Police Department? Is it permitted to take out the Indian National flag and hoist safron flag in Shivamogga? Hon. Chief Minister should ask the Ploice to file an FIR against that goonda who hoisted safron flag. Also Eswarappa, Basavaraj Yatnal, Pratap Simha and other BJP leaders are instigating the young students. MLC Vishvanath has rightly askrd the Swamjis to come out and raise their voice.

There is perhaps merit in the accusation. Also, in the TV visuals, how come all the saffron clad fellows are male? how is the hijab any concern of theirs? - do they feel deprived of the chance to ogle? No one objects to how these fellows dress or not dress - so why is it any of their business how others dress?

Hijab row is affecting the functioning of colleges and schools Hope the issue get a good solution . Like sikhs allowed to wear turban in work -places Hijab also may be allowed but a Conesus must be reached before a proper decision I am sure some sort of solution may be reached soon after adequate discussion Let the High court decide and whats to be done and we shall repsect the verdict and follow it
