Karnataka Sangha, Dubai's Unique Event for Children to Celebrate Rajyotsav 2010

Dubai, Dec 26: Karnataka Sangha, Dubai in continuation of their silver jubilee celebrations organized a unique programme for children as part of Karnataka Rajyotsava 2010 celebrations at Elite English School auditorium near Mamzar, Deira Dubai, recently.
Spot drawing and fancy dress competition for different age groups, fancy dress competition for open to all category, bharatanatyam, skits and humorous poetry reciting were the highlights of the day.
The day’s programme started with spot drawing competition to the children of various age groups. To draw the attention of tender mind of the younger children to nature and inculcate responsibility to save nature, the drawing subject given to them was “Nature” to the junior group and “Go Green” to the senior age group children. Parents and onlookers equally enjoyed the imagination of children blossoming in to colorful art work; some of them really deserved appreciation. Karnataka Sangha Dubai provided a platform for this ‘artists in the making’ to express their imagination in colors.
Madhusudan Talitaya, B K Ganesh Rai and Pratima Raviraj Tantry were the judges for the spot drawing competition and the winners are:
Group – 1 – Below 5 years age
1st – Shane Pinto Kamath, 2nd – Pragathi Rao Baneri, 3rd – Sean Pinto Kamath
Group – 2 – Age 5-8 years
1st – Rheanne Lewis, 2nd – Shraya Pai, 3rd – Obban C Hegde
Group – 3 – Age 8 – 15 years
1st- Deepak Acharya, 2nd – Ankita Shetty, 3rd – Unnati Nayak
In absence of the president C R Shetty, general secretary K R Tantry welcomed the guests and audience. The days programme began with lighting up the traditional lamp by the event committee members followed by “pushpanjali”, solo bharatanatyam dance by Laxmi Suryakumar and “Krishna” another bharatanatyam by her students troupe.
Fancy dress competition for the children of different age groups and adults was the main attraction of the day. Kittor Rani Chennamma, President Pratibhadevi Patil, Vanake Obavva, Sir Vishweshwarayya, Colgate tube, fish, Kodava, 29/11 bomb blast victim, joker, bride – some of the well appreciated items presented. Laud applause from the audience gave the stamp of appreciation to the participants.

1st – Avinash Suvarna Udupi, 2nd – Ganesh Rai, 3rd – Tina Pinto
Humorous poetry recitation programme was for the intellectuals who appreciate Kannada language and literature. Kannada writers residing in UAE, who serve Kannada silently through their writings were given a platform so that Kannadigas residing in UAE can enjoy and appreciate their intellectual writings. Local talent Gopinath Rao, Robert Udyavar, Pius James D’Souza, Arshad Hussain, Irshad Moodabidri and Shashidhar Nagarajappa read out their humorous literary works which was appreciated by one and all.
Chapala Chennigaraya – a skit presented by Prasanna Shetty and team and the ‘huccha” presented by Sudhir Kumar and team was appreciated by the public.
Karnataka Sangha, Dubai appreciated the services of all the judges by giving memento, flowers and gifts and winners of drawing and fancy dress competitions were also rewarded with cups, certificates and gifts. First half of the programme was conducted by K R Tantry and second half by Manohar Hegde.
The day's programme came to an end with the vote of thanks by K R Tantry, general secretary of Karnataka Sangha, Dubai.
