Bengaluru: PU Board website says uniforms not mandatory, forcing it is offence

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 10: At a time when the Hijab controversy has made national and international headlines, the fact that the Pre University Board's website has been showing a guideline that is quite contrary to what the government has said, has triggered discussions.

As per the admission guidelines of the department for 2021-22, wearing of uniforms is not compulsory. Not only that, it also says that the principals and administrative bodies making uniforms compulsory amounts to violation of rules.

This is quite contrary to what chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, and primary and secondary education minister B C Nagesh, have said in their statements recently. They have said that the wearing of uniforms is compulsory and that this rule was applicable even during the previous Congress regime.

There have been differing views on the issue but generally all the deputy directors of PU education agree that uniforms help in identifying the presence of children unrelated to the campus. Most of the PU colleges have made wearing of uniforms mandatory, sources said.

Today's students should show their talent in Examinations, not in campus politics. The responsible parents must take a call and see what their children are supposed to do.

In fact uniforms are extremely a negative development. It will kill a students identity and originality. Of course to control discipline , it may help, since the colleges and schools have a large number of students who can not be easily recognized. In western countries there is no uniform at college levels. It is surely negative trend. It goes against rather human life itself.
