Udupi: Soldier's wife attacked in Manipal over property dispute

Udupi, Feb 10: An Indian Army soldier's wife was attacked with a sickle by her uncle here on Thursday, February 10.

The injured is Deepa Naik, wife of Yamanoori, a resident of Herge in Parkala.

The accused is identified as her uncle Jagadish Naik.

It is alleged that when the complainant was watching the survey of a land belonging to her neighbour, Jagadish assaulted her with a sickle. The complaint reads that the accused attacked Deepa with an intention of murder because of a property dispute between them.

She was admitted to Udupi Ajjarakadu hospital with injuries including on her head. Deepa has sought police protection alleging a threat to her life from her uncle.

The Manipal police have registered a case under IPC sections 354, 504 and 307 against Jagadish Naik.
