Udupi, Feb 12: "Irrespective of what allegations the girl students of my college make against me, they are my students. I treat them as my children and I have sympathy and compassion for them. I request them to attend college, study well, and follow discipline and rules," said principal of the government girls PU college here, Rudre Gowda.
Responding to the controversy over Hijab on Friday, he noted that these girls had violated rules and discipline. "We tolerated indiscipline for a month. Now they are trying to test the patience of the college and administrative council. I have the regret that they have gone to the extent of making allegations against us. Sometimes I get doubt, based on their behaviour, whether they actually are our students. Let them return to the college, and study well," he said.
The principal requested those who are misleading the girl students to stop doing so. He reminded that it is the duty of the concerned to preserve the reputation the college earned during the last three decades. He said that HIjabs were allowed even in classrooms till 9.15 am and that when classes start at 9.30 am, they have to be removed. He mentioned that all other girl students remove HIjabs when classes are on.
The principal clarified that there is no room for student organizations in his college.
