Puttur, Dec 29: A pregnant woman died in a hospital here while delivering a child owing to the recklessness of maternity staff at about 1.30 am on Wednesday December 29, it is alleged.

Thirty-year old Swapna, wife of Sridhar Rai who works as advertising personnel with a local Kannada weekly, is the deceased. She was admitted to the Chetana Hospital here at about 1.00 am on Wednesday in an advanced stage of pregnancy.

Rai is a native of Parladka, just two kilometres away from the town and the family members of the couple allege that the irresponsibility of hospital staff in discharging led to the death of Swapna. The couple has a child already and it was the second delivery for Swapna.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel among others visited the hospital and met Rai family. A case has been registered at the rural police station of Sampya.

They have to find out the reason for death, if the patient is critical condition then they should admit before, hospital people are not responsible for all the death, some cases is different, doctors will 100% try to save the patient, they are not a animal. Due date time patient should go for regular check up and they have to take care for their health.Last minit doctors cannot do anything.unless and untill the case is critical.

It has become a fashion to blame the doctors for all dealths. If in any case the victim's relatives/family finds any fault in the treatment they should take recourse under legal system but desist from giving press statements or attacking the doctors/ hospitals. Of late these incidents are increasing and it is not in good sense. Let's all understand one thing very clearly that doctors are not Gods, they try their level best within the given infrastructure and the time at which the patient is brought in for treatment. Beyond that there are numerous reasons for the sudden collapse of the patient and the Doctors have to be mute spectators of the incident though they wanted to save the life. If this trend continues I think no doctor will take the responsibility of treating serious cases. Let's behave properly as good citizens and treat the Doctor community with respect and dignity. There are a few who are money minded but I don't think thee is any doctor who is negligent enough to kill the patient. Just because the victim's side is from press they should not indulge in such act. Let them take a recourse under the statute. As true citizens we must protest this type of attrocity against doctors tooth and nail. Shame!

If there is a grievance against the services of the hospital, there are proper channels to complain. Just because the diseased happens to be the relative of a media related person, publicizing over the media, parading politicians or defaming the individuals won't do any justice.
Wait for the post mortem report, investigations before jumping into conclus ion. If defamed without basis, precious lives may be lost if the primary care providing medical practitioners start referring all cases to tertiary care centers " just to play safe"

Dear Mr. Haris K.H. Kumbra/Puttur, Muscat As Mr. Santhosh Bhandary, Mangalore/Dubai rightly said, "Let's not jump to conclusions and deliver verdicts without verifying the facts" Think Honesty & answer to yourself, You are also from Puttur, SUPPOSE, any one of your relative e.g. wife, sister or any relative work in that Hospital or if that Hospital belong to known person/friend to you, are to going to make such rude & nonsense comments? "Fear God & think before comment something", No one is perfect in this world!and moreover, Our life is in God's Hand, if it is God's wish, he can save us anyway! May her soul rest in Peace!

Let's not jump to conclusions and deliver verdicts without verifying the facts. One needs to know if she was having any complications, if she was she admitted to the hospital at the proper time and did the hospital have qualified personnel and facilities for the kind of problems she was facing if any. We have to learn a lesson and make sure to stop such things from happening in the future.

Why blame the hospital, for self carelessness.? Hospital staff are not miracle workers. Nor are they relatives of the deceased, to give out of the way services.

Majority of the hospitals, unless they are paid handsomely do the normal job, without careing whether the patient lives or dies. This being the case the family members should NOT have waited till the 12th hour not even the 11th, to seek medical attention

According to the report above, the deceased was admitted to the hospital in an advanced stage of pregnancy at 1-00am and she died in 30 mins from thence as per the report. In my opinion the family members should take the blame for not bringing her to the hospital in time.

First of all let me offer my condolences to the departed souls. This is shame for that Chetana Hospital. I totally agree that some of the hospital staff so careless. They think only money. They don't have any feeling. Evan cesarean rates are rising these days. Why the rate of ceasarean sections has gone up and what professionals are saying about it?
