Mangaluru, Feb 14: It was indeed a joyous day for all the Lourdites as the School celebrated the feast of its patroness Our Lady of Lourdes on February 11 with zeal and enthusiasm.
The programme began at 8:00 am at LCS grounds. Dr Aloysius Paul D’souza bishop emeritus was the chief guest for the day. Along with the chief guest Dr John Baptist Saldanha manager of L C S, Fr Robert D Souza, principal, and Belita Mascarenhas, vice principal and school management committee members graced the occasion.
The programme began with a prayer service, followed by the welcome address by Jenissa Pereira of class 12. Olivia D’souza of class 10 gave a deeper insight into the significance of the day. Every Lourdite was elated to take part in the celebration of the feast. On behalf of the student community Jagrathi Shetty of class 12 shared her thoughts on the relevance of the day.
LCS inspires and motivates the students to excel in every field. The achievers in National and International field were honoured by the chief guest. They were Shriyana Mallya, Rudra Rajeev, Anagha Raajesh, Aarna Raajesh, and Aathish S Shetty from the sports field.
Mary D’souza the computer teacher was honoured for her relentless service and for the meticulous work done throughout year.
Harshitha Shetty gave us the insight on the two main projects of the School which were successfully completed this year. 'The Solar Project' and 'Fire Safety Services'. Inaugration of the same was done by unveiling the flag by the chief guest.
Later during the programme, the chief guest Dr Aloysius Paul D’souza the bishop emeritus was honoured and felicitated by the dignitaries on the dais. Deepa D’Souza read out the citation.
The chief guest Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the principal and faculty for the success of the school. He mentioned that the message of our Lady of Lourdes is to have courage, confidence and give comfort to all in the world. He congratulated the entire Lourdite community and motivated the children to prepare themselves well for the future with values such as truthfulness, respect, helpful, and humbleness. He urged the students to dream high and have a goal in life so that our country gets good leaders.
In his presidential address, the manager Dr John Baptist Saldanha spoke on the occasion and said that the patroness teaches us to be prayerful and thank God at all times. He asked the students to pray for the people around. He promised to make some provisions near the school grotto so that every Lourdite gets an opportunity to offer sometime in the presence of our Lady which will bring forth many blessings.
The vote of thanks was rendered by Asher Pinto of class 12.
The cultural programme included a dance in honour of Mother Mary and a short play on Our Lady of Lourdes, depicting the life of Bernadette and the apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes was beautifully presented by the students of class IV and V.
The programme ended by wishing the birthday children and singing the school anthem followed by Eucharistic celebration. The whole programme was compered by Keith and Joelle of class 10.
Fellowship Meal: The best times are always when friends and family gather around. As a part of the celebration a fellowship meal was organised by manager Fr John Baptist Saldanha and principal Fr Robert D’Souza. It shows the power of gathering which inspires us delightfully, to be more hopeful, more joyful more thoughtful in a world in which we are living. These moments are cherished forever.
Fr Valerian D Souza and Steven Pinto were the guests of honour. Fr Valerian D Souza a renowned educationalist and guest visionary in his short speech congratulated Fr principal and the entire staff for the excellent work being done at Lourdes. He also said we are progressing by leaps and bounds, aiming to be the best school.
