Udupi: 'News crew entered home with hidden cameras, harassed us', alleges student

Udupi, Feb 20: One of the student petitioners who filed a petition to Karnataka High Court questioning education institutions for prohibiting Hijab in class has alleged that crew from a Kannada private TV news channel entered her residence forcefully harassed her with hidden cameras.

Taking to Twitter, Aliya Assadi on Sunday, February 20 tagged Kannada television channel Suvarna News and alleged that most of the media had forgotten media ethics and the concept of privacy.

""NIJATA", "PRIVACY","???????" These are the words to be remembered who has media ethics. But what I'm seeing today is that most of them have forgotten the media ethics. @AsianetNewsSN has just crossed it's limits by entering my home forcefully to harass with hidden cameras (sic)," she tweeted.

In another tweet, Aliya alleged that her college had leaked information of protesting students including their address, phone numbers, and names of their parents, and since then the girls had been receiving abusive calls from strangers. She urged the DGP of Karnataka to intervene and take action in the matter.

"Since the college leaked our private details, we got abusive calls from unknown numbers at the beginning and now they're entering homes forcefully and harrassing us. Trying all the ways to let us down. Stop this cheap works and be a gentleman @DgpKarnataka must take action," she said.

It may be recalled that the personal information of the girls who approached the court was shared on WhatsApp groups of the right-wing organisation. Karnataka BJP and its leaders too had shared their details in their official Twitter accounts.

After being portrayed as 'heros' of the 'Hijab' for weeks, the heat is now getting on the rear. The agitating students are slowly reailising their folly. Their proud parents too are worried. Academics are gone for toss. Soon the parties supporting will dump them and vanish. So what next?. The answer is 'victim card'.

Students please focus on studies than more drama around which is impacting peaceful society to maintain. Peace is important than religion. If peace is not around no one cares about any religion. Please forget about religion and practice peace. When peace and love around everything is possible. Why simply make life difficult for everyone. Wear everything at home and in religious places.
