Mysuru, Feb 21: Firebrand BJP MP Pratap Simha on Monday February 21 hit out at his own government in the state over the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha in Shivamogga and said that while he used to criticise the previous Congress-led government whenever such murders of Hindu activists took place, the fact that it has occured again with his own party in power is a matter of embarassment. He also said that the culprits should be killed in 'encounter' to 'teach them a lesson'.

"I feel pained by the death of this youth. I feel ashamed that this has happened during the reign of our own party,” he said.

Simha further blamed SDPI for the murders of right-wing activists and said, "The police were attacked in Mangaluru last year, and later riots took place in KG Halli and DJ Halli. Hindus are being murdered repeatedly under the rule of BJP. If the government had banned SDPI in the beginning itself this would not have happened. When a woman was raped in Hyderabad, the police dealt with it by killing the culprits in an encounter. Similarly, in Karnataka too, only an encounter will teach them a lesson."

He further said, "DJ Halli and KG Halli riots took place when Bommai was the chief minister. Now a youth has been murdered in Shivamogga. The chief minister should stop giving speeches and act sternly. We have demanded the government to ban SDPI after every murder, but they have not taken any action. At least now the organizations needs to be banned," he said.

"There is an atmosphere of unrest throughout the state due to the Hijab issue. The high court's interim order is not being followed properly, and no action is being taken against those who are disrupting peace. Even those who are violating section 144 are being let go scot-free," he said.

He urged the chief minister and the home minister to take stringent to arrest Harsha's murderers and take stringent steps to punish them.

Bajrang Dal activist Harsha was hacked to death late night by a gang of four who came in a car and escaped soon after committing the crime. The murder has sparked tension in the district and incidents of violence have been reported, leading authorities to shut down schools and colleges and imposing prohibitory orders.
