Daijiworld Media Network - Chikkaballapur (SP)

Chikkaballapur, Feb 22: Nishank Gul (19), who came to Nandi HIll and then undertook the trek of the neighbouring Brahmagiri Hill where he faced danger to his life, has been booked under the Karnataka Forest Act for trespassing. This information was provided by Chikkaballapur district forest officer, Arasalan.

He said that Nishank has been booked under section 24 of Karnataka Forest Act and that he will be subjected to questioning once he is discharged from the hospital.

There is no permission to undertake trekking in many parts of Nandi Hill. Mobile phone signals are not available in many places there. Therefore if anyone faces danger, no one can reach there for help. People believe that Nishank was lucky enough to come out unscathed. He surprisingly did not come under the attack of any wild animals. Additionally, he was stuck in such a narrow and steep crevice where he could surprisingly get a mobile signal. These things make many believe that his survival is nothing less than a miracle.

For using certain select trekking routes identified by the district administration, the forest department's permission letter is a must. It is advisable to take the help of experienced guides in the interests of safety. People who enter without permission, such people can be booked for trespass under section 24 of the Karnataka Forest Act. The district forest officer said that the trekkers have to realise that by ignoring to follow rules, they face the risk of getting entangled in long drawn legal procedures.

He also said that Nandi Hill, where the forest department permits hiking, can be entered through pathways by foot. Trekking can be undertaken only in places like Makali Betta and Savanadurga in Bengaluru rural district,he stated.

Hope you understand the meaning of 'Walking ' and 'Trespassing' ? These hills are danger zones and there are 'danger signs 'at every nook and corner. The hoardings are in big black and bold. Do not comment just for the sake of commenting.

Lucky young fellow. But for God's blessing he would have died a horrible death either by starvation or wild attacks by forest animals. One must have company whenever venturing into uncharted areas. Especially people must avoid unknown waters. Parents are lucky and must be very relieved.
