Udupi: Section 144 imposed around all PU, polytechnic, degree colleges

Udupi, Feb 22: Deputy commissioner Kurma Rao has declared Section 144 around a radius of 200 meters from pre-university colleges, polytechnics and degree colleges in the district as a precautionary measure from 6 AM on February 24 till 6 PM on March 5 in view of the on-going Hijab-Saffron controversy. The orders exclude the public holidays including Shivaratri on March 1.

"Gatherings of more than five people in groups are banned during the banned period. Slogans against the government servants, carrying of weapons, fireworks, bursting of crackers, protests, violence, carrying of explosives, processions, burning of effigies, distribution of sweets for celebrations in public places, public slogans, exciting speeches, distribution and display of hand bills will be banned during the section," states the deputy commissioner in a press release.

    Sad to see jail like situations developed in and around school premises. The usual enthusiasm and laughter are over powered by anguish and fear. Free minds of innocent students are disturbed especially when they are about to enjoy campus pleasure after months of covid confinement.

    My dear student friends.....Please get back to your respective classes as examinations have approached or approaching very soon at your doorstep. Please concentrate on your studies and dont lose one precious year of your lives. Enjoy your student life. Some are instigating to attain their ultimate goal. You dress up as you want wherever you go. Inside the campus, all of you live in uniformity and as one community. No one can break you guys if you do so...     It's a realy sad and shame to our state that our schools are under section 144.The students are future of our country. But these students do not understand the meaning of education and their future are indulged in this type of act and spoiling other students life.
