Udupi: Police stage route march as confidence building measure

Udupi, Feb 23: Towards beefing up the law and order situation in the district and building confidence in the minds of the people in the light of the situation prevailing here, a police route march was organized on Wednesday February 23.

Jodukatte happened to be the starting point of the route march. It wound through the main streets of the city. As many as 90 personnel of the rapid action force and over 200 district police personnel participated in the programme and marched throughout the city.

This exercise was undertaken to provide confidence in the people of coastal districts by the police department which has become alert in the light of the Shivamogga disturbances. The district superintendent of police (SP) Vishnuvardhan, said that the police department is fully prepared to face any challenges and asked the people not to be disturbed about the law and order situation. He said that this is a warning for the people who may be planning to disrupt peace in the society.

"We have been monitoring social media sites too. Whenever we find wrongdoers, we will take stringent steps against them," SP Vishnuvardhan said.
