Feb 23: Dakshina Kannada reports 18 Covid cases, one death; Udupi adds 15 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 23: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, February 23, reported 18 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 15 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,35,339 out of which 189 are currently active.

As many as 53 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,844.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,59,980 as fine in 95,753 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 15 new cases were reported on Wednesday. The total active Covid cases are 135. A total of 21 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

Udupi taluk reported 9 cases, Kundapura 4 and 1 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,50,561 people have received first dose of vaccination and 9,32,693 have received both doses and 41,895 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
