Feb 24: Dakshina Kannada reports 23 Covid cases, Udupi adds 15 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 24: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, February 24, reported 23 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 15 cases.

The total number of positive cases in Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,35,362 out of which 171 are currently active.

As many as 40 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,845 out of which one death was reported on Thursday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,62,180 as fine in 95,775 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 15 new cases were reported on Thursday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 129. A total of 21 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

Udupi taluk reported 9 cases, Kundapura 2 and 2 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,50,651 people have received first dose of vaccination and 936241 have received both doses and 42,254 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
