Udupi: Five including Michelin Fernandes, Anifred D'Souza in war-torn Ukraine bunkers

Udupi, Feb 25: The district administration has released the list of people from Udupi who are presently in Ukraine which is in conflict with Russia.

As per the list released by district administration, five people from the district are residing in Ukraine. All the five are identified as students.

Michelin Glenwill Fernandes from Kemmannu studying medical in Town National Medical University of Ukraine. Anifred Ridly D'Souza from Kallianpur, Rohan Dhananjay Bagli from Brahmavar studying in Kharkiv National Medical University, Mranal studying in Ivano-Frankivsk National University, Kahaimkiv and Niyam Raghavendra from city are the five students from the district currently stranded in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Daijiworld Media got in touch wit Michelin's patents and they said he had just returned to Ukraine on February 15 to continue his classes.

However, they confirmed that he is safe and has taken shelter along with his classmates in a safe bunker.

The security forces there informed them to pack their materials and shift him to the bunker, they added.

Michelin is also in touch with his parents.

"Now the war has started. We could not hear his voice in the morning. Today the situation seems all right. As of now, he has taken shelter in a bunker. We have confidence in the Indian government. Our relationship with other countries is fine. We have confidence that all the stranded will reach India safely through airlifting. We pray for their safe return," says his father Melwyn Fernandes.
