Udupi, Feb 26: “If we really want to follow Sharia law for Muslims, the six assailants, who killed Harsha, should be released from prison and allowed to be stoned publicly. According to Sharia, when a person kills another or rapes, he is stoned publicly to death,” said MLA Raghupati Bhat.
Bhat was addressing the protesters near Tiger Circle of Manipal in a huge protest rally that was held condemning the murder of Bajrang Dal worker Harsha and against Congress party on Saturday February 26.
He further said, “Hijab will cause danger for the country. There is international conspiracy behind this issue. Government should consider this seriously.
“If the staunch supporters of Sharia law, who want to wear Hijab inside the classrooms, will follow all laws of Sharia, we are ready to sacrifice a little for them. We go according to constitution. They go according to Sharia. Make all the rules of Sharia compulsory for Muslims. We respect those who have removed Hijab before entering the classrooms. Congress should not do escapism in the matter of Hijab.”
BJP district president Kuilady Suresh Nayak said, “Do not test the patience of Hindus and disturb the peace in society. Hindus will not keep quiet. Our Hindu activists are ready to fight against PFI and SDPI. Do not spoil democracy in the name of national flag.
“In order to divert the Hijab issue, Congress is repeating the Bhagwa flag statement of K S Eshwarappa. He has not insulted national flag. Even I will say that sometime in future Bhagwa flag may be the national flag of India. They did not allow to hold assembly session fearing that Hijab issue will be discussed.
“SDPI has recently opened its account in Kaup panchayat elections by winning three seats. It is playing political game in order to expand its voter base. Students do not have the minimum courtesy of following high court order. If you want to follow Sharia, then go to countries which follow Sharia. Let this kind of acts get over with Harsha's murder. Otherwise it will be difficult for minorities to live in this country,” he said.
BJP leaders Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, Veena Shetty, Shreesha Nayak, Naveen Kutyaru and Manohara Kalmady were present.
