Bommai launches Pulse Polio campaign on Keladi Chennamma day

Bengaluru, Feb 27: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai launched the Pulse Polio Campaign and offers floral tribute to Keladi Chennamma on her 350th coronation anniversary from his Home Office of Krishna on Sunday, February 27.

Addressing the gathering after launching the pulse polio campaign, the Chief Minister said the country was still observing a nation-wide 3-day campaign of administering polio vaccine to children even after eliminating the scrounge.

India has successfully tackled the diseases like TB, Cholera, Malaria and Plague as also polio, he said pointing out that the country has seen the havoc caused by polio 25 years back which caused physical disabilities and even led to massive deaths as the disease occurs mainly among children.

He said the country has effectively faced Covid-19 pandemic’s first and second waves besides even the third wave as it tackled other deadly diseases in the past.

The Chief Minister said it was a coincidence that pulse polio campaign and Keladi Chennamma’s coronation anniversary are observed on the same day. He hailed Keladi Chennamma as a far-sighted and progressive leader.

The State Government has decided to observe Keladi Chennamma’s coronation anniversary at Keladi itself from next year in a grand manner. Keladi and all surrounding areas will be developed, he said and promised to take steps to propagate her ideals and achievements.

Veerashaiva Lingayat Panchamasali Math pontiff Sri Vachananda Jagadguru, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar, Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani and others were present.
