Bengaluru, Feb 28: The launch of a series of ambitious National Highway projects covering almost the entire State would usher in a connectivity revolution and change the entire transport scenario of Karnataka, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said in Hubballi on Monday.

Speaking to media persons in Hubballi, he said the development works being undertaken by the Union and State Government would lay a strong foundation for development in economic, social and education sectors of the State.

"Today Union minister for Highways Nitin Gadkari is launching and dedicating to the nation a slew of projects in the State. Many development projects in the State have been implemented due to the commitment and diligence of Union minister Prahlad Joshi. Construction of National Highways works and Upgradation of State Highways are being implemented in the State under the leadership of Gadkari," Bommai said.

As many as 46 National Highway project works involving a total length of 328 kms with an expenditure of Rs 19,930 crore are set to commence with Union minister for Highways Nitin Gadkari laying the foundation stone and dedicating the projects already completed.

The projects include 5 national highways of 238 kms in length and an investment of Rs 3,972 crore for which foundation stones are being laid at the District Stadium, Nehru Nagar in Belagavi; dedication and foundation stone laying for 26 national highways worth Rs 12,795 crore with a total length of 925 kms at Gabbur Junction Truck Terminal in Hubballi and foundation stone laying and dedication of 15 national highways of 164 kms in length and an investment of Rs 3,163 crore at Cordel Hall in Kulshekar, Mangaluru.
