CM Bommai reaches out to family of student killed in Ukraine

Bengaluru, Mar 1 (IANS): Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has condoled the death of Naveen Gyangoudar, an Indian student who was killed in Ukraine's Kharkiv on Tuesday morning.

Naveen hails from Haveri in Karnataka, and is the first Indian casualty of the deadly face-off between Ukraine and Russia.

The Chief Minister called up Naveen's father, Shekhar Gouda and consoled him. Terming the development as a real tragedy, the Chief Minister assured the family of all support for bringing back Naveen's mortal remains to India. He said that the state government is following up on the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs.

Recounting his son's last phone call to him earlier Tuesday morning, an emotional Shekhar Gouda said that Naveen used to telephone him at least two or three times a day.

Naveen was studying in Ukraine for the last 4 years. According to family sources, the tragedy occurred when he went out to have his breakfast.

If only the government had given priority to set up medical colleges instead of only temples, statues and goshalas, students wouldn’t have gone to Ukraine for studies.

Come to Manipal, you will see so many foreign students in Manipal KMC. Some people just want to go to foreign for their status in society. You can't blame statues for that. And where govt is building temple? name one. it is being built using money donated by people.

Instead of a call ,better a personal visit to parents. Some students waited till last hoping war may stop. Also he went out for breakfast was not a good idea .Everywhere they are shooting .People are hiding in bunker.Sitation is become very serious. All people have fled to nearby land Polen or other countries.Poland is giving a lot of help.My heartfelt sympathies to his parents.May his soul rest in Peace.Ukraine has offered to Russien soldiers to stop firing if they do that they will get about 40,000Euro and give them freedom no punishment. But further shoot they will not be spared.Whether they have taken it or not dont know.At present Russien Soldiers are not having enough food.Because of sanction on Russien bank ,it is not able to release money to soldiers.

Modi plays a very (Chanakya influence/guided) move. India avoids condemning Russian invasion of Ukraine and stays aloof non Western coalition. Such calculated move to please Russia will spread anger and illtreatment of Indian studets strapped in Ukraine. In such critical times a person like Indira Gandhi would mean a lot !
