Durban, Jan 10 (IANS) South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini bid goodbye to international cricket at the end of the Twenty20 match between India and the hosts here Sunday.
Ntini, the first black cricketer to play for South Africa donned the national cap in 101 Tests, picking up 390 wickets at an average of 28.82. His record was better in the One-day Internationals (ODI). Ntini finished with 266 scalps from 173 ODIs at 24.65.
It was a fitting finish to his illustrious career as he came out to bat in the last over and was welcomed by the 50,000 crowd at the Mose Mabhida Stadium.
"I want to thank everyone for their support. I love my fans. Thankyou very much for everything. I won't talk for long so here I say goodbye," said an emotional Ntini at the post-match presentation.
