Sullia: Elderly person rescued in hit-and-run case dies

Sullia, March 1: A 60-year-old- man was killed in a hit-and-run case at Gadikallu of Sampaje here on Tuesday, March 1.
The deceased is Saroj Kumar (60) from Sampaje.

As per the complaint when the complainant Narayana, a resident of Kukketti house of Sampaje was passing on his motorcycle by Gadikallu, found Saroj Kumar lying on the roadside, with his  left leg smashed and other parts of the body injured.

Narayana, after providing him first aid, took the injured to Sullia KVG hospital. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. He was admitted as an in-patient in the hospital. But Saroj Kumar failed to respond to the treatment and he breathed his last.

It is said that when Saroj Kumar had gone out for a walk,  a vehicle came and hit him but the driver fled the spot without helping the victim.

Police have booked cases under sections 279, 3 04(A) of IPC and 134 (A&B) IMV Act.
