Karwar, Mar 2: The police personnel of Ankola police station functioning under Karwar sub-division have succeeded in arresting an interstate fraudster who had cheated by using an ATM card. Deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Valentine D'Souza, played a key role in this successful operation.
The arrested fraudster has been identified as Vijay alias Angadaprasad Dwivedi (34), who is a driver by profession. He is from Uttar Pradesh. His current address is Mumbai.
Cash amounting to Rs 42,000 and a car used for the crime bearing registration No. MH03-HC 1047 was confiscated from his possession.

A person residing at Bole within Ankola police station limits had visited an SBI ATM on December 21, 2021 afternoon to withdraw money. A stranger who came there had succeeded in diverting his attention, taking away his ATM card and withdrawing Rs 44,000 through the ATM of another bank.
Ankola police who investigated a complaint lodged with them on December 28, 2021, succeeded in arresting the accused from Kurla Mumbai. It is said that the accused is involved with similar crimes at different places in the state.
