Udupi: DC Kurma Rao gets national award for work against child drug abuse, trafficking

Udupi, Mar 2: The district's deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M was bestowed with a National Award at Vigyan Bhawan, at New Delhi by the DG, NCB and Chairperson, NCPCR, on Wednesday, March 2.

Kurma Rao was nominated for this prestigious award for his exemplary service towards preventing drug abuse among children and also their trafficking.

Owing to his obligations in the district the DC could not attend the event in New Delhi. On his behalf, Wilfred D'Souza, DYO, NYK, Udupi received the award.

Udupi was one of top 20 districts that was selected at all India level for the extraordinary work done in "Prevention of Drugs and Substance Abuse among Children & Illicit Trafficking." Udupi is the only District that was selected from Karnataka for this honour.
