Shivamogga, Mar 4: In an incident which happened in Gopal extension in the city, a person who was on a stroll was attacked with stones by some young men from another community. This incident has given rise to worries in a city that is limping back to normalcy after the murder of a Hindu activist vitiated the atmosphere.

The man who came under attack has been identified as Vankatesh (48). He was on a walk with his pet dog near Padma Talkies in the same extension on Thursday evening when five to six young men from another community started quarrel with Venkatesh without any valid reason. They later hit his head with stones.

Venkatesh, who suffered serious injuries, is being treated in the district hospital here. As soon as they came to know of the incident, MP B Y Raghavendra, BJP leader S Dattatri, Bajrang Dal leader Deenadayalu and others visited Venkatesh in the hospital, enquired about his condition and instilled confidence in him.
