Mangaluru, Mar 5: "Unity is utmost important for the Muslim community at this hour. Wearing of Hijabs is an Islamic tradition that cannot be compromised," said Sultan Ulema A P Ustad.
He was delivering religious discourse on the occasion of Ullal Uroos organized on Thursday.
Dargah president, Haji Abdul Rashid, spoke on the occasion. Shaffi Saadi, president of the state Wakf board, speaking on the occasion, wished that the unity witnessed at the Ullal Uroos will remain a permanent feature.
MLA U T Khader, advocate K P Abdul Shukoor, chancellor of Yenepoya deemed university, Yenepoya Y Abdulla Kunhi, Kanachur Medical College and Research Centre group chairman, Kanachur U K Monu Haji were felicitated on behalf of the Ullal Dargah administrative committee.
Ustad Sirajuddin Khasimi delivered the main address. Shaikhuna Imbichchi Hamid Koya performed the Dua. Various leaders including Udupi 'Qazi, Mani Ustad, Shaikhuna Usman Faizi, Abdul Majeed Madani, and others were present. The Sandal procession undertaken under the leadership of former minister, U T Khader under the aegis of Ullal block Congress and Mudipu block Congress was taken to the Dargah venue from near Mukkacheri Tajmahal Hall on Thursday. Community feast is being offered at the Dargah continuously from Saturday night to Sunday night.
