Mangaluru, Mar 5: Criminal investigation department (CID) has undertaken investigation into 'Mangalore Muslims' Facebook (FB) page for allegedly posting objectionable article in the social website relating to the murder of Harsha in Shivamogga and certain other cases.

It is said that a threat to the host of a satirical channel along with objectionable writing against a state minister had appeared in the said page. After the post became viral, it received large scale objections after which the city police lodged a suo motu case. Sources said that CID has undertaken detailed investigation of this page and blocking the page is one of the options it might consider.

This page had been blocked in 2016 too relating to posting of certain derogatory comments about Kateel temple and Hindu belief system. With court permission, the page had been blocked then. New page was opened by just removing one alphabet.

A social media team has been keeping watch on anti-social elements trying to disturb peace. A social media vigil team has been functioning all 24 hours of the day in the office of the city police commissioner.
