Mangaluru: Day-long ‘Pro Kabaddi’ tournament inaugurated

Mangaluru, Mar 5: A day-long district level day-night Kabaddi tournament, ‘Pro Kabaddi’, was inaugurated here at Sultan Battery ground on Saturday March 5, organized by Bathery Friends in association with District Amateur Kabaddi Association and Mangaluru Taluk Amateur Kabaddi Association.

Addressing the gathering, corporator Jagadish Shetty said, “Games like Kabaddi will motivate youngsters to get into sports. Kabaddi is a sport which is loved by all. A platform is given to the youngsters to perform so that they can take the next step to a bigger stage.”

Managing director of Daijiworld Media, Walter Nandalike said, “When I look at the way the Kabaddi tournament is organized here, my respect towards Bathery Friends has doubled. I wish the very best for all the players taking part in the tournament.”

Jimmy Joseph, distributor, Jeeni millet health mix, unveiled trophy for the tournament.

Lakshmish Suvarna compered the event.

President Boloor Mogaveera Mahasabha Rajshekar Karkera, administrative officer Urwa Sri Mariamma temple Devanand Gujran, corporator Ganesh Kulal, Savitha Raghu, honourary president Bathery Friends Ganesh Karkera, president Bathery Friends Gautham Karkera, Yakshagana artist Prashanth C K, Devdas Boloor and others were present.

    I have words to express to the organizers of ' Pro Kabbaddi' tournament. My family and myself were born and bought up in Mumbai then Bombay. There was a open small ground in front my house. I still remember there was a group of Shetty hotel owners who sponsored this Kabbadi. Long live KABBADI. I visited Agripada last year with my wife. We could see big buildings come but the Shetty Hotel is still operating as usual. THanks to Dailiworld and Walter and his team for the photo coverage of this event.
