Low air pressure, possibility of rain, thunder in state

Bengaluru, Mar 6: The dry weather, which prevailed in the state for the past two months is getting over. There is a possibility that various parts of Karnataka will receive rains from Monday, March 7.

The Indian Meteorological department said that there was possibility of rains in the interior and coastal districts of the state due to the intense low pressure that is created over the Bay of Bengal.

On March 7, rain accompanied by thunder is likely to pour in Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagalur, Kodagu and Hassan. The rains will continue till March 9 in the districts that lie on the plateau of Western Ghats. On March 8, rains are going to lash Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Gadag, Dharwad and Haveri.

In Bengaluru, for some days strong surface air will blow. Morning will be misty. The maximum temperature will be 32 deg Celsius. At present, the low air pressure is located at around 300 km from Chennai in the Bay of Bengal. It will then reach northern coast of Tamil Nadu. Karnataka is likely to receive pre-monsoon rains till end of May.
