Bengaluru: Two children drown in quarry standing water

Bengaluru, Mar 7: Two children who went to swim in the standing water of a quarry pit drowned in water. They were trying to escape from the scorching heat of the sun. This incident happened in the outskirts of Devalpur village of Hoskote taluk in Bengaluru rural district.

The children had school holidays. Nivas (12) and Irshad (12) went to the quarry to spend the holiday in a cool pool. When swimming, they failed to gauge the fact that the water in some pockets was quite deep. After the children drowned, the locals informed the nearest police station. The police along with the firemen worked for four hours before they could retrieve the bodies.

A case has been registered in Anugondanahalli police station.
