Moodbidri: Infant Jesus Feast at Holy Rosary Church on Jan 16

Moodbidri, Jan 14: Infant Jesus Feast will be held at Holy Rosary Church grounds, Alangar, on Sunday January 16. The theme of this year’s feast is ‘Ask and You Will Receive’. As a preparation to the feast, novena services have begun since Friday January 7.
Bishop Dr Isidore Fernandes of Allahabad will preside over the festal Eucharistic celebration at 5.30 pm on Sunday. Bishop Dr Isidore will also install a statue of Infant Jesus, which was brought from Prague, Czechoslovakia, at the church, on the occasion.
The friars of Carmel Monastery in Mangalore were the first to spread the devotion of Infant Jesus Shrine in Dakshina Kannada district in 1947 and the Infant Jesus shrine in Alangar has the patronage of a large number of devotees. Both Infant Jesus shrines in Mangalore and Alangar emerged as significant worship centers thronged by devotees regardless of caste, creed, and religion.
Alangar Holy Rosary parish priest Fr Basil Vas, deanery vicar Fr Austin Peris, parish council vice-president Clifford Aranha, secretary Mark Rodrigues, convener P K Thomas, and reception committee secretary Valerian Sequeira were present at the press meet.
