State Tulu Sahitya Academy Launches Website, Releases Books

Mangalore, Jan 15: The much-awaited website of the state Tulu Sahitya Academy was launched at a glittering ceremony by deputy speaker of state legislative assembly N Yogish Bhat at the Academy hall here on Saturday January 15.
Dr Palthady Ramakrishna Achar, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy said that launching of the website is a golden event and that the website is designed to provide information relating to the Tulu world.
He also revealed that there had been a demand for such a website from people staying abroad over the years and it was only last year that the government gave the green signal for its launch. However, due to some delays, it took an year for the website to be finally launched, he said.
Elaborating on the content in the website, he said that it has an exclusive Tulu vocabulary and glossary of Tulu terms. He also requested mayor Rajani Dugganna and Yogish Bhat to construct a Tulu Bhavana at the earliest at a cost of Rs 2 crore.
Yogish Bhat in reply assured that in the next budget he would place the demand for the Tulu Bhavan before the government and try his best to get the required grant for its construction. He also lauded chief minister B S Yeddyurrappa for increasing the grant for the development of language and literature in the state from Rs 7 lac to Rs 40 lac.
Mayor Rajani Dugganna released the works "Bangle Gudde Sannakkana Bai Patherada Sahityo," edited by Dr Poovappa Kaniyoor; "Bharatha Kavyo Pasadi" (vol 2) by Kamalaksha and "Tuluva Shri Krishna Devaraya" edited by Dr Duggappa Kajekar. She also released the 52nd issue of the Academy's tri-monthly "Madipu."

The website, www.tuluacademy.org, gives information and photographs of various award winners in the field of Tulu literature, drama and other activities, information about book releases, publications, programmes, news and so on.
