Bantwal: ‘State Support Essential to Enhance Kambala in DK’, Ananta Acharya

Bantwal, Jan 17: The support from state government is essential in order to promote Kambala (buffalo race) that has been a part of farming community in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district said Ananta Acharya, chief- priest of Panchadurgaparameshwari temple, Poonja.  It will also give a major boost for the organizers of Kambala, he added.


 

Ananta Acharya was speaking after inaugurating Kambala at Hokkadigoli, near here on Sunday January 16. Kambala committee honorary president Vinu Vishwanath Shetty, president Santosh Kumar Bhandary, zilla panchayat member M Tungappa Bangera, Hokkadigoli gram panchayat president Mahabala Shetty and Prabhakar Prabhu among others conveyed best wishes for the Kambala.

Kambala committee vice- president Sandesh Shetty, Babu Rajendra Shetty, secretary Sujay Shetty Kalaidadda, veteran Kambala organizers Umesh Shetty, Raghavendra Bhat, Umesh Hingani, Suresh Shetty, Sudhir Shetty and Suresh M Shetty were present on the occasion.

A total of 105 buffalo pairs including their handlers participated in the historical Kambala.
