Kasargod: Stones Pelted at Mosque – Two Held

Kasargod, Jan 19: On Tuesday January 18 morning, some miscreants pelted stones at the window panes of Ibrahim Batisha Jumma Masjid in Bekal Chettukundu in the district, damaging its windows and glasses. After the incident, situation in the area turned tense.

After the incident, two buses were stoned by some enraged youth, injuring a passenger. While a KSRTC bus coming to Kasargod from Kanhangad was stoned at Poochakkad, shattering its rear window glasses, a private bus was targeted near Shirtady Bridge.

It is learnt that a few people had attempted to set up a dais near the mosque for organizing a function, a few days back. After verbal frictions, the gang had threatened the Imam of the mosque, it is said. On a complaint filed by the secretary of the mosque, P P Addu, the local policemen have taken up investigation.

It is gathered that two suspected miscreants have been taken into custody by the policemen for questioning, relating the stone pelting incident.
