Udupi, Mar 17: Srinivas Tunga (72) from Sastan in Brahmavar taluk, who was struggling even to satiate his hunger even though three of his children are in well-paying jobs, has succeeded in getting a favourable order from the tribunal.
Human Rights Protection Foundation, which supported Tunga in his effort to get justice, has succeeded in fulfilling its purpose. A legal fight started to get maintenance for the father lasted for about three years. The Senior Citizens’ Tribunal where Tunga had filed a petition, has completed hearing the petition of Tunga and ordered Tunga's three children to pay him maintenance of Rs 3,000 per month each by credit to his savings bank account with bank.
The order said that Srinivas Tunga's petition has been upheld and for the full life term of the petitioner, his children, S Prashanth, S Prasad and S Prathima, have to pay a total sum of Rs 9,000 per month by credit to Tunga’s bank account towards his daily expenses, medical expenses and other expenses.
The order also said that failing compliance, suitable steps will be taken against the children under section 5(8) of the act, Dr Ravindranath Shanbhag said in a press release.
