Mangaluru, Mar 19: In connection with a case registered in the city north police station last year, accusing the personnel of the Lady Goschen Hospital here of replacing the healthy female child with a sick male one, the personnel of the Bunder (north) police station filed 'B' report in the court on Wednesday March 16.
The investigating officer has received the DNA testing report conducted in a laboratory in Hyderabad, which has found that complainant, Mustafa, himself had fathered the male child, which is now no more.

Mustafa's wife had given birth to a male baby in Lady Goschen Hospital here on September 27, 2021 but the hospital staff by mistake had entered the gender of the child as F (female) instead of M (male). The child at birth weighed just 1.4 kg as against 2.5 kg for normal healthy babies. The child was shifted to the neonatal intensive care unit of the hospital as the child also suffered from breathing problems.
Mustafa came to know after some days that his wife had given birth to a male baby, not female. He had got the baby discharged on October 14 and admitted it into a private hospital at Kundapur. At that time he realized that his baby was male. As the health of the baby deteriorated, it was again admitted into Lady Goschen Hospital. The baby, without responding to treatments, had lost its battle for survival after 48 days.
Mustafa complained to the city north police station, accusing callousness on the part of the hospital staff. The case got wide coverage in the media. The court later gave its nod for conducting a DNA test based on Mustafa's complaint. At that time, protests were also held and netizens had trolled the hospital through social media. Paediatrician, Dr Girish, who had treated Mustafa's wife and child, had to leave the job. Two junior doctors who mistakenly entered the gender of the baby as female also had resigned from their jobs.
