Kundapur: Unauthorized sand extraction - Six boats confiscated

Kundapur, Mar 23: After they were tipped about the unauthorized sand extraction from River Sowparnika going on near Arama temple in Trasi village, officials of the mines and geology department raided the spot on Tuesday March 22.

Geologist Sandhya, took into possession four boats which were being used for sand mining. She also confiscated two more boats which were found being used for unauthorised sand mining near Mevadi bridge in Nada Guddeyangady in Byndoor taluk.

During the raid at a few spots within the limits of Nada Badakere, Sandhya said, those involved with this illegal activity, escaped after hiding the boats and other equipment used for the activity under water.
